Diva’s Song
Diva’s Song was a collaborative project between musician Nora York and her husband, artist Jerry Kearns. The project consisted of an art installation at Mike Weiss Gallery in Chelsea and a cabaret performance at Joe’s Pub.

The art installation was documented as a virtual walkthrough that existed temporarily as its own website before eventually being incorporated into Kearns’ own site. The client wished to produce a guided slideshow that ‘walked’ a visitor through Kearns’ art installation whilst giving them the option to play the piece of York’s music that went along with the exhibition. The site also included pages for the events surrounding the project as well as press.
Two posters were also designed for the event - one for the cabaret performance and a second as part of the gallery’s press release. Kearns’ imagery is appropriated from the EC Comics of the 1940s-50s. The client wanted the poster to echo film posters from that same era. I utilized characters from the wall paintings of the art installation as well as the brick red color that was the connecting thread between the three text-based murals in the show.
